February 1, 1943
George still in bed. I worked all day. We went to station with Marzelle and Bradley.



Tuesday
February 2, 1943
Ironed and picked up. George told Oliver come look I have something attractive to show you.



Wednesday
February 3, 1943
Canteen meeting here, new officers & plan to serve at Hotel and Station. Keeping Alice M. in all week ahe has been going too much.



Thursday
February 4, 1943
Cloudy, Shrine Dance tonight, George is still in bed.



Friday
February 5, 1943
Alice M is giving shower for Suzanne DeForest tonight.



Saturday
February 6, 1943
Talked to Mr. Yadon about Surgical dressing room on N.S. George up for first time.

February 7, 1943
George Lewis had lunch with us. Ol & kids planted part of garden.



Monday
February 8, 1943
Ol & I took George to Okla City today pay up uncle Charlie’s bills. Ma found out we were going she said she hated for us



Tuesday
February 9, 1943
Called for the George Tylers they took us alaround & we paid up. Ate at the Beverly places fine food we left out at 1:25 PM. Saw Gernty Treece Thornton. Sand storm Caught us (sinus about to get me) Ate dinner Elsie . Got home 9:45 P.M. George had a grand time.



Wednesday

Uncle Charlie’s estate consisted of watch chain, diamond stick pen(3 small ones), ring, $20 in cash. We had a 475.00 insurance on him besides burial policy. Represents a life time 56 years. Garrisons have club tonight hope I can make it. I did & won high.



Thursday
February 11, 1943
I have gained a day, Feel Terrible Dust Storm doesn’t help sinus. George started Whooping Cough Serium.

Feel a little better, will try to dig out. Ollie is going to the Sweetheart Ball at T. W. C. She passed all her subjects, fair.

February 13, 1943
Enchilades at Burseys, We took George, all the other kids were out.

George Lewis came for lunch.

Is there a poem for this Valentine’s Day? A proposal imminent.

Met Mrs. I. H. Burney for instruction for Santa Fe Station.



Tuesday
February 16, 1943
Serve for Canteen at Santa Fe Station to be there at 5:30 A.M. Hard day very un pleasant (caused by Miss Sidebotton) I won’t ask the ladies to serve there again.



Wednesday
February 17, 1943
Talked on phone all day about yesterday. Mrses. Brown & Stripling are for us so that’s all that counts.



Thursday
February 18, 1943
Our Canteen Servers at Hotel Texas for lunch, appointment with photographer to get ladies pictures 11:45. Shower for Mary Beth Hall. George Lewis asked for Alice M. tonight.



Friday
February 19, 1943
We hope A. W. & George will be happy & if all things will be happy together. They are planning to wait until after flight school. About a year.



Saturday
February 20, 1943
Washed all day. When George asked Ol for A.M. he was giving Ol a rub down, Ol had lifted a steel case & had strained his back. Ol said George got him on his tummy with his thumbs in his side so he couldn’t do anything about it then asked for her.

Remember GII’s expression “Let me show you the hold I learned at the Y”

Picture show with Ol in afternoon. George Lewis came in bearing gifts from the valley where he had stayed all night. The Burseys came over for bridge.

February 22, 1943
Feel terrible just did what I had to. George Lewis came by for dinner.

Canteen meeting at Ft. Worth Club – 10 A.M.



Wednesday
February 24, 1943
Organized Home Nursing Class at Health Center at 1P.M. Fain out of town didn’t have it. Bridge Club in eve. at Reynolds. Ol went to Big Springs to get J. M. Floyd’s sister who was killed in an explosion.



Thursday
February 25, 1943
Had to serve at hotel Mrs. Roark fell down.



Friday
February 26, 1943
Did the laundry, made Camp Fire meeting, got training course from Miss Dively. Ol Bored.

I assume “Ol Bored” means Oliver had a Draft Board meeting; going with the capitalization rather than the spelling.

Saturday
February 27, 1943
Help register people for Book No. 2. Attended J. H. Floyds Sister in-law’s funeral. Ol & I saw “Hitler’s Children” Jane Webb stayed all nioght with A.M. A.M. Ollie & I bought play shoes – not rationed.

What Shoes would not have been rationed? Canvas?

February 28, 1943
George L., Jane had lunch with us. Ollie spent her shoe stamp yesterday for sandals (rationed) Couldn’t buy canned goods all past week.
