Breakfast with Neta. I cooked her Birthday Cake, rested all afternoon, Ol worked at night.

Sunday School. Neta’s Birthday dinner in eve.

I am the best maid you ever saw, if I just hold out.

Saw Ollie for a few minutes at Radio Station, Camp Fire made a record for community chest program. Ironed until 8 A.M.



Wednesday

Usual run of work. Bought pans, cups, forks, etc. for canteen.



Thursday
6-Aug-42
Cut out 2 more Canteen uniforms for me Elbertine. Went to market.

7-Aug-42
Peach Preserves. To town to buy more canteen equipment. Letter from Ollie begging to go to college what a shame.

Coffee with Neta.

Accute indigistion nearly passed out. A.M’s report is finished hurrah.

Still feel bad. Alice M. bought box springs & mattress delivered. I had to pay the initial payment $16.00 she never has any money. She pays back.

Club night at the Garrison’s. I won the Defense Stamps again. Jesse here to do laundry. Wanda Fay here to stay all night.

Jesse Came back today to iron. Alice Marie stayed all night with Wanda Fay.

Coffee at Neta’s, Finished six blouses for girls & George. Ol went fishing.

Went after Ollie from Camp; glad to have them all home. Alice M. brings a soldier & two other guests home for lunch, Jane stayed all night.

Made Water Melon Preserves. Conner & Winnie here for Dinner to eat fish Ol caught.

Ollie home but on the go all the time or having company.

Ol & I drove an ambulance Wichita Falls to get mileage has supper with Elsie & Ralph lots of fun.

Cub meeting nothing much. Marvin’s Birthday.

Alice Marie is 20 today. Had dinner at the house, played rummie afterwards.

Tried to hire a housekeeper promised she would come Breakfast with Neta But didn’t

Served breakfast to Boys at U.S.O. with Margaret Petteway. Alice M. & Jane Webb. Jack left for Camp at 2:30. Slept all afternoon.

Housekeeper didn’t come or call, raining. Miss Dot Gibson spent the night with Ollie. Ol went to Marshall Tex. For body. Marzelle Burk, Bill, &I went to see picture Mrs. Minerva, wonderful.

Mrs. Minerva Winston Churchill was moved to comment that its propaganda value was worth a dozen battleships. – Allmovie.com

Didn’t do much of anything. Called Canteen list, sewed, cooked. No help available at office all are of draft age.

Ollie is going to college at T.W.C. if she can borrow enough on her insurance policy, A.M. doesn’t want to quit work.
