Munnie's Diary February '42

Sunday 1-Feb-42 Ollie had Camp fire apprentices here for Dinner. I had to go to dentist, shopped all morning, took Home Nursing Books to Miss Erickson at NSHS. 
Monday 2-Feb-42 First Aid at Mrs. Ernest Allen’s, just 8 miles out and 8 miles back; my tires will soon be gone. Wyatts came over for the evening, they are better. OD Wyatt Jr. died in action Jan 2. 
Tuesday 3-Feb-42 Morning Bridge, the very first since the 16th of Dec. Meeting Home Nursing Class at N.S.H.S. Met with nursing Comm. At Women’s Club at 4:15. Dead in Evening. 
Wednesday 4-Feb-42 Sunday school Luncheon Ruth Martins First Aid at 1:30 until 5. Bridge at Jerry Fits in eve. No luck. 
Thursday 5-Feb-42 Home so far. Oliver goes to Shrine meeting (dinner) tonight. I shall retire. Sam Callaway’s Anniversary first we have missed in years. (but Ol’s meeting) 
Friday 6-Feb-42 Lost a Day Should have been Sat. 
Saturday 7-Feb-42 Shrine Dance made the rounds picked up the Chas. Twiss and the Harold Sharps. I had more fun. 
Sunday 8-Feb-42 No Sunday Schoool. Dick Cody and another soldier here for lunch. Be back next Sunday, Missed very few since Alice met him in Oct. Running with Burks Monday 9-Feb-42 Stayed home didn’t get a thing done. Day light saving time started and I got up one hour earlier not much help. Tuesday 10-Feb-42 Dentist 10:30 First Aid 1:30. Ollie and James Lafferty are getting very serious. Bought material for three new dresses. Wednesday 11-Feb-42 Dallas with Mrs. Bursey. Bridge at Garrisons in eve. Dinner. The Red Cross in Dallas are really organized we enjoyed our trip very much. Dr. ill. Thursday 12-Feb-42 First Aid 1:30 Oliver attended Shrine dinner and meeting. Friday 13-Feb-42 Home again today. Alice Marie and Abney Cooper are entertaining Fellowship here tonight with party and dance. 13-Feb-42 Ol bought himself a bicycle, but my car is still on the go all time. Duplicate day (?) Saturday 14-Feb-42 Rained. Ol & I saw “the Great Dictator” My Valentine Gift was a big box of Red Tulips growing Sunday 15-Feb-42 Sunday School Dick Cody for lunch. We rested all day and evening getting ready for registration tomorrow. Monday 16-Feb-42 Ol and Alice M. started registering men for the third Draft 20 to 44 early they had a grand rush Ol had to register himself I served all day. Tuesday 17-Feb-42 First Aid. The earnest Allens had dinner with us. Wednesday 18-Feb-42 Day Club my last meeting. Knife and Fork Club in eve. Speaker Dr. Gerald Wendt. Won the money in the Day Club. Now I have Wed. free. Thursday 19-Feb-42 Garden Club Mrs. John Bourland. First Aid exam made 99 on exam. Friday 20-Feb-42 Civic Music (Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo) Didn’t go saw a picture show instead and forgot an engagement with Wyatts. Started Nutrition Class. Saturday 21-Feb-42 Worked in yard. George has a cold; played Rummie with the Burks. Alice Marie moved her room into the middle bed room. Sunday 22-Feb-42 Sunday School – Dick C. was in town but didn’t eat with us. A.M. is a cross as an old bear. Monday 23-Feb-42 Monday George still has cold – settled in ear. All children are cross and at each other’s throats, what a lovely time I am having. Tuesday 24-Feb-42 Sewed, cleaned house just went from one thing to another. Not sure about ‘Sewed’ the cursive ‘S’ in manuscript looks like a ‘Q’. Matches ‘S’ in beginning of Feb 29 though. Wednesday 25-Feb-42 George still has cold, Nutrition class, dinner with Fain Reynolds’ for night club. Call all schools on N.S. about Children’s Ent. Beirer Plays. Beirer – cannot make out this word. Thursday 26-Feb-42 Ollie has Blue Birds here. Alice M. and George both in bed with colds. George plays Dr. all day. They both have the “WANTS” & I don’t loose a lb. Loose a lb. may refer to Nutrition class Friday 27-Feb-42 Nutrition class, found out just how much total which isn’t much. A.M. & George still in bed. He played School today. Saturday 28-Feb-42 Bought groceries all day seems like nothing to eat either. Boys helped throw papers. Jacks bicycle came after 3 weeks. War gets worse.
