*
Fri. June 28 – 1946
Alice Marie Lewis & Thelma Shannon gave a stork shower for Margie Burks (Mrs. Jack Burks).
Work behind – sent Alice Marie to get cakes to serve – They were late, she waited, I finished in kitchen, cleaning her room – Gave bottle to Joan Lewis – I strip getting ready for bath, heard gurgle, gurgle – Joan bit the top off nipple & poured the milk out in her bed & was slushing. I spanked her good. Changed ends with bed. Took my bath, just 30 min. before guests arrive. Lillian, (Maid from Office) saunters in to help. Alice M. comes home, maid feeds Joan – A.M. has to bathe self & Joan. Every one here – Margie is surprised – Start playing game – Mrs. C.C. Cross says, “Thelma, the shower is in the wrong place.” Water was streaming down upon her. Elbertine Shannon & I rushed up stairs found Geo Shannon leisurly singing in the shower in my bathroom with curtain on outside of tub. Wanted to know what he had done & did I tell him. Marzelle had my milk pans catching the water. The shower was just a little miss placed was all.
* From a separate note clipped in to the diary denoting the day of the Stork Shower.
